Disability Pride Is Coming Back to Harrisburg
Last year we teamed up with Thrive CIL in Harrisburg to celebrate its grand opening and disability pride. There was a DJ and food and games right there in the back lot on Herr Street — including a giant Connect Four and people dancing in the parking lot like nobody was watching.

This year, we're doing it again!
Disability Pride is exactly what it sounds like. It's our community showing up, taking up space, and celebrating who we are.
"Disability Pride 2025 was a powerful reminder that disability is not something to hide — it is an identity to celebrate," said Jahlysa Garcia, Events Committee Co-Chair at Thrive CIL. "Events like Disability Pride show the strength that exists when accessibility, inclusion, and community are prioritized."
This year's theme says it straight: We belong here and we're here to stay.
"Looking ahead to Disability Pride 2026, we are excited to grow the celebration even further. We hope to see more community partners, businesses, and advocates join us in recognizing that people with disabilities are vital contributors to every part of society. Our goal is to continue creating spaces where pride, empowerment, and independence are not only celebrated, but actively supported," Jahlysa added.
Vicki Landers, DPP's executive director, has watched Disability Pride Harrisburg grow from the ground up. "This is what community looks like when we stop apologizing for who we are. Every year we come together and celebrate disabled joy,” she says. “And that matters."
Come celebrate. Bring somebody.
