Accessibility Statement
At Disability Pride Pennsylvania, access is not an add-on, it is the foundation of everything we do. Our events are designed with the understanding that access needs vary, and we are committed to creating environments where disabled people can participate fully, safely, and with dignity.
In-Person Accessibility
Our large outdoor in-person events aim to include:
Step-free access, wheelchair-accessible routes, and accessible seating options
Accessible restrooms and clearly marked pathways
ASL interpretation
Audio description for visual programming
Visual interpreters when needed
Sensory-friendly spaces or quiet/chill zones for rest and regulation
Clear signage, including sensory zone indicators and wayfinding
Accessible food and beverage options when available, with consideration for dietary needs
Staff and volunteers available to support access needs on-site
Masks and earplugs available at our tent
Virtual Accessibility
Our virtual and hybrid programming includes:
Live captioning and/or transcripts
ASL interpretation when requested or built into programming
Screen-reader accessible materials and platforms
Clear verbal descriptions of visual content
Flexible participation options (chat, audio, video)
Recordings available, when possible, to support asynchronous access
Health & Safety / Masking Policy
We recognize that health access is a critical part of disability access. Our approach is rooted in balancing safety, inclusion, and evolving public health guidance:
Masking policies may vary by event and will be clearly communicated in advance
When masks are not required, they are always welcomed and respected
We encourage masking in crowded indoor spaces to support immuno-compromised community members
If possible, we incorporate additional safety measures such as:
Outdoor or well-ventilated spaces
Distanced seating options
Hybrid or virtual participation alternatives
We ask all attendees to be mindful of community care—if you are feeling unwell, please prioritize virtual participation when available.
Requesting Accommodations
We know access is not one-size-fits-all. If you require accommodation not listed here, we encourage you to reach out seven days in advance. We will do our best to meet your needs.
Reasonable accommodations for some events can only be provided if they are specifically requested in advance due to shortages
We encourage you to reach out with suggestions to improve this policy. Contact Access@DisabilityPridePA.org. Thank you.
